NAPOLEON IN RAGS

Storming triumphantly into our headline slot this month comes Napoleon in Rags. Their swirling blend of indie rock has been capturing the capital recently and is sure to bring the crowd into a frenzy by the end of the night. Think Interpol on prozac, The Futureheads with style and a heavy dose of The Cure to finish, however you see it this is damn good music from one of the most exciting bands we’ve had at Corrupt and one for the future.

PIPPA MARIAS

Sweden is famed for its ability to produce perfect synth pop acts time after time and Pippa Marias are no exception to the rule. Setting up shop in Dalston in January 2010, the four piece haven’t looked back and continue to churn out beautiful, melodic tunes inspired by the beat of the streets of London and pure unashamed Swedish pop. Influences include Zdar, Cassius and Phoenix while giving their own touches to the genre.

JUKEBOX COLLECTIVE

With influences from 70’s New York and 80’s Manchester, Jukebox Collective have crafted a sound that has an appreciation of the past, whilst remaining vibrantly current. The band will be playing fresh off the back of their latest single release ‘Lost &Found’ which has sent taste makers, dj’s and bloggers crazy around the country. An early demo of Lost & Found, currently spinning in Topshop NYC and which has been a regular feature on 6 Music, rocketed to number 15 in the Hype Machine charts in the latter half of 2010 without being officially released. They were introduced by Tom Robinson on 6 Music and performed a live show on the 4th February 2011. Steve Lamacq did an interview with them on 20th April as his “new favourite band.” Nick Hawkins (6 Music) and Dave Gorman (Absolute Radio) are currently spinning the record too.

WOLF LARSEN

Brighton based alco-folk group Wolf Larsen have been destroying venues across the south coast over the last year. Corrupt is giving them their long overdue London debut this month. Expect wild tales of love and loss in the night fighting over a wall of beats and banjos. The perfect band to get the party started for what will be an event to tell the grandchildren about in years to come.
